Cape Verde Islands have only a little natural resources.
Only four of the ten major islands (Santiago, Santo Antão, Fogo, Brava) support significant agricultural production by growing fruit and vegetables.

In Cape Verde, the grape-vine is grown in small amount and more than 90% of all food consumed in Cape Verde is imported.
Tasty wines are slowly coming to the domestic market and partly exported to Portugal.

Mineral resources include salt, pozzolan (volcanic rock used in cement production) and limestone.
